Life On Mars

I am so intrigued to finally be watching  Life On Mars airing tonight @ 10pm, on ABC.

About Life On Mars

abch-728x90-0318.jpg

Where were you in 1973? NYPD Detective Sam Tyler finds himself in the cultural hotbed of New York City in the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War, Watergate, women’s lib and the civil and gay rights movements – without a cell phone, computer, PDA or MP3 player…suddenly hurtled back in time when he’s ripped from 2008 after being hit by a car while chasing down a criminal. He’s trying mightily to understand what has just happened to him and how he can get back “home.”

What exactly is going on here? It’s like Sam is on a different planet; uncontrollable criminals, police on the take…whom can he trust? Forced to use a different moral code and without hi-tech crime fighting techniques, Sam clashes with his new boss at the 125th Precinct, the irascible Lieutenant Gene Hunt, who would rather use his fists than his brains to solve a crime. Hunt, who has earned the adoration of the men under him, does his best to hide his humanity behind a gruff exterior and great gut instincts, in contrast to Sam’s more politically correct cutting edge style. But the two begrudgingly combine to make a powerful team. Whether they like it or not.

Then there are the other squad members of the 1-2-5. Detective Ray Carling, a big, mean guy in a street-fight with life. Ray may be a rough, tough sexist, but when the chips are down, he’s a handy guy to have in your corner. Until Sam came along, Ray was the golden boy of the force and Gene’s go-to guy. It’s the man’s man against Sam’s charming wit, charisma and eerie futuristic knowledge of not just police procedure, but the whole culture, that puts them toe-to-toe in this face-off for Gene’s approval.

Annie Norris is a member of the Police Women’s Bureau. At a time when females were only allowed to do menial tasks and not real police work, she’s the smartest person in the room. Little does she know that her dream of becoming a real cop will come true. Right now she’s struggling to deal with being undermined, under-used and in general against the sexism of the times. However she’s the one person Sam can turn to to help guide him in his new reality. Theirs is a strong bond. After all, they’re both outcasts.

Rookie Detective Chris Skelton is a sweet guy trying to make it in this uncompromising world, but right now he’s out of his league with Gene and Ray. He’s impressed with Sam’s new way of looking at and thinking about policing, but that means he’s at odds with Gene and his old school style.

In his 2008 life, Sam was in love with Maya Daniels and, although Maya and Annie will never meet, Annie’s workplace battles have paved the way for Maya to become a full-fledged cop. But a fascinating, unique love triangle evolves between Sam’s “real” in-the-moment friendship with Annie, his longing to get back to Maya and the fantasy of what could be.

At home in Sam’s apartment building in the East Village, there’s Windy, a free-spirited, post-hippie chick who can teach Sam a thing or two about the cultural revolution taking place in front of his unbelieving eyes.

Just how will Sam deal with all this ambiguity while trying to remain a top detective, as he desperately attempts to get back to 2008? He might just find things aren’t so dissimilar in New York circa 1973 and 2008.

Sounds awesome right?

The cast alone has me very very very interested in watching. Not to mention that I love when TV gives a ‘Throw Back’ to the ever so Groovy 70’s.

sarasilveramngiveaway.jpg

It’s Sarah Silverman’s world and we’re all just spectators.  Follow Sarah and the rest of the gang as she becomes romantically involved with God and decides to become “black” for a day to prove it’s harder to be Jewish, deports her cleaning lady, joins a radical anti-abortion group and licks her dog’s anus.

Spend a few hours in Sarah’s world where viewers come for the brilliant writing and performances, but you stay for the farts.  TIME magazine hails the show, “As filthy and sweet as an X-rated lollipop.”

The Sarah Silverman Program stars Silverman portraying a character (aptly named Sarah Silverman) whose absurd daily life is told through narrative and an occasional song.  In each episode, Sarah falls into unique, unsettling and always hilarious predicaments, with her sister Laura (played by real-life sister Laura Silverman) her nerdy gay neighbors, Brian and Steve (Brian Posehn and Steve Agee)  and dim-witted Officer Jay (Jay Johnston ) never far from her side.

Sarah Silverman is a three-time Emmy® Award-nominee and recently received her first Emmy for the wildly popular “I’m F*cking Matt Damon” video.

Samantha Who?

I. Love. This. Show.

I. Can. Not. Wait. For. The. Return.

SAMANTHA WHO?

Tonight. Monday October 13th @ 930 pm on ABC.

In case you don’t know: About The Show:

“How would you like to rewind your life, erase all the mistakes and cringe-worthy moments and start over with a clean slate? It’s a common fantasy. But for Samantha Newly (played by Christina Applegate), the fantasy is far too real. After a hit-and-run car accident puts her into an eight-day coma, she wakes up with retrograde amnesia. She can function in the world, but she can’t remember a single fact about her own life!”

I have always been a fan of Christina Applegate. She has wowed me since back in the day of her rebel teenage years when starring as Kelly Bundy on Married With Children. And with a co-star like, Jean Smart as her mother, who refuses to give Sam any accurate facts about the past she is trying to remember, you cannot go wrong. Pairing up two female situation comedy divas together…. Good call ABC.

If you could start over, would you do things differently? Could you do them differently? Can people change? Or are we just… who we are? Please let me know in the comments!

While I do love all TV shows (and movie’s) Jerry Bruckheimer style, I am even more intrigued by the other new show Life On Mars airing @ 10pm, on ABC.

So which one would YOU watch?

I’m leaning towards Life On Mars.

Yes?

*Follow up post-review to follow after I decide and subsequently watch one of these.*

Must See TV – NBC – Tonight

8:00 PM My Name Is Earl

8:30 PM Kath & Kim

9:00 PM The Office

9:30 PM SNL Weekend Update Thursday

I am so very excited about the premeier of  Kath & Kim.

images.jpg

So what’s this show all about?

“Kath & Kim” focuses on Kath (Molly Shannon of the SNL Fame), a cheerful, foxy, forty-something and her self-absorbed daughter, Kim (Selma Blair of Hellboy2), who have the love/hate, push/pull dysfunctional relationship that only a mother and daughter could share.

Kath has finally found love in the form of a sandwich shop owner named Phil Knight, (John Michael Higgins of Best in Show). Kim is a self-absorbed princess newly separated from her husband of six weeks, Craig (Mikey Day, MTV’s Short Circuitz“). Kim decides to move back home, putting a damper on Kath’s new romance.

* I am counting on the new series for some real laughs. *

And what’s got me even more excited?

SNL – Weekend Update On A Thursday.

(But only if that covers all of the Tina Fey/Sara Palin impersonations that have been happening over the last few weeks. Otherwise, I’ve got more important things to watch like this.)

However, according to THIS PREVIEW it just may be!

Wheeeeeeeeee!

CSI-Vegas: Season Premiere

Tonight CSI -Vegas (the best one out of all the CSI’s) will premier at 9pm on CBS.

Will Warrick live or die? Will he live long enough to tell somone who shot him? Will the corruption in the department finally be exposed?

[*biting off my freshly manicured nailes with anticipation*]

Sofa King Excited!

Will you be watching? And What do you think is going to happen?
