HOUSE – Season Premiere

Ah, yes. “Its The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year…” And by that I mean this fall line-up is chalk-filled with old and new television Season Premieres. I can barley keep up!

About The Show:

House is an innovative take on the medical drama, solves mysteries where the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. DR. GREGORY HOUSE, devoid of bedside manner and dealing with his own constant physical pain, uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor. His behavior often borders on antisocial, but House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him a great deal of respect. An infectious disease specialist, he thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.

I have loved watching the series HOUSE since day one. However, I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed with this Season Premiere. I will NOT give away any spoilers to those who may have not seen it yet. But, I will say, the show didn’t really hold my interest until the character Wilson showed up half-way through the episode. I am truly hoping the rest of the season has more “bite” than the premiere. Especially since it’s up against some tough contenders like another American Favorite:  ‘Dancing With The Stars‘.

The League

The second season of ‘The League‘ premieres tonight on FX at 10:30pm. And I could not be more excited about it.

And not just because it stars one of my favorite comedians Jon Lajoie.

Fantasy football is supposed to provide an outlet for good-natured competition and camaraderie between friends and colleagues, but that’s not always the case. In FX’s comedy series, The League, deception, one-upmanship and a win-at-all costs mentality rule the day on the virtual gridiron and then extend into personal relationships, marriages and the workplace. The League was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer (Disturbia, Eurotrip) who serve as executive producers and directors.

Seriously, this show will cause non-stop machine-gun laughter! Don’t believe me?

New Show Premiere: OUTLAW – NBC

NBC premiered it’s new show OUTLAW last night starring Jimmy Smits. And it was awesome!

Starring Emmy Award winner Jimmy Smits (“NYPD Blue,” “The West Wing”), “Outlaw” is a new drama from creator and executive producer John Eisendrath (“Alias,” “Felicity”).

Few jobs are guaranteed for a lifetime, and a Supreme Court appointment is a position that no one ever quits – unless he is Cyrus Garza (Smits). A playboy and a gambler, Justice Garza always adhered to a strict interpretation of the law until he realized the system he believed in was flawed. Now, he’s quit the bench and returned to private practice.

Using his inside knowledge of the justice system, Garza and his team will travel across the country taking on today’s biggest and most controversial legal cases.

Garza’s team includes his best friend since childhood, Al Druzinsky (David Ramsey), a brilliant defense attorney with liberal beliefs; Mereta Stockman (Ellen Woglom), a hopeless romantic who is Garza’s loyal law clerk; Lucinda Pearl (Carly Pope), a wildly unorthodox private investigator who uses her sex appeal and wit to gather information for Garza; and Eddie Franks (Jesse Bradford), a tightly wound, rabidly ambitious Yale-educated attorney, recently hired as Garza’s law clerk.

I have been a Jimmy Smits fan for as long as I can remember. And honestly, after watching the premiere, I feel like he was born to play this role. I was completely captivated from the opening scene. I am very much looking forward to see how the whole season unfolds!

The Buried Life

MTV’s adventurous docu-seriesThe Buried Life returns for a second season Monday, September 27th at 10:30PM ET/PT. “The Buried Life” began with a simple question: “What do you want to do before you die?” Out of it grew an inspirational TV show and a grassroots movement that has allowed viewers to live vicariously through four friends—Ben, Jonnie, Duncan and Dave—as they put themselves in the most incredible and unexpected situations while traveling the country trying to complete a list of “100 things they want to do before they die.” For every item they cross off their list, they help a perfect stranger accomplish one of their dreams.

Season two of the series promises more elaborate capers and inspirational moments as people from around the world share their own lists and ask the guys for help.  Crashing a parade, capturing a fugitive and raising $1,000,000 in a week, are just a few of the list items they will attempt to pull off.  The guys will also try to help two sisters make an important motorbike journey across Florida to bury their father’s ashes, build a skate park for a community that has lost four teenagers to tragedy— and help a struggling rock band get signed to a record label.

Fans will be reunited with Duncan, the heartthrob with a heart of gold; Ben, the hustler and fashionista who will do whatever it takes to get things done; Jonnie, a tech-savvy think-tank with a flair for music and all things entertainment; and Dave, the daredevil who loves taking risks and is up for anything.  This past year, the guys’ adventures ranged from the seemingly impossible to the downright inspirational.  From delivering a baby to playing basketball at the White House with President Obama to appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show—they have touched millions of young people along the way and inspired them to go after their dreams.

Four years ago, “The Buried Life” began in a garage when Duncan Penn, Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood and Jonnie Penn, disillusioned about what lay ahead for the future of their generation, decided to make a list of everything they wanted most in life.  In the process, the guys promised they would help others achieve their own life goals, including helping a young woman who lost her mother in Hurricane Katrina travel to her grave site for the first time, rewarding students they met by donating computers to a low-income school in Los Angeles, and more. The title “The Buried Life” refers to a poem written by Matthew Arnold in 1852 in which he suggests that our daily lives become so cumbersome that our real life becomes buried and we each have a desire to live our “buried life.”

The mission of “The Buried Life” is to encourage people to write their own list of “100 Things I want to do before I die,” pursue it with passion and reach out to help others accomplish something on their list. Since the grassroots movement began in 2006, more than half a million people from over 200 countries have responded online.  “The Buried Life” guys accomplish their own list items without assistance from MTV or the production company Reveille. Instead they must rely on creativity, wit and assistance from others.
